Claverton Street.

Claverton Street is on Map 3d. Along with addresses showing Claverton Street itself, the road contains named terraces: see also Bartletts Court; Bolwell Buildings; Claverton Buildings; Coburg Place; Sussex Place; St Marks Cottages; Widcombe Parade (which contains Fishers Court). Claverton Street connects Pulteney Road to the junction of Old Bridge and Holloway.
Bolwell Buildings, which was located on the south side of Claverton Street between Lyncombe Hill and Widcombe Parade, was not mentioned in the City Engineer's report.

Architectural drawingIn the City Engineer's report, the "Historic Buildings" section lists number 26a as a Dwelling House and Baths; the "Domestic Premises" section lists No 26a as a Shop and Dwelling House. The 1940 street directory shows addresses 26a and 26b as a single residence, and 26c as a valid address that is not inhabited. I have interpreted this anomaly in the table below as follows: 26a is the shop; 26c is the Baths; 26b is a residence above or below the shop and Baths, spanning both premises. Unfortunately, in the 1960s, much of this area was demolished as part of the road scheme that added Rossiter Road, so I cannot examine the buildings themselves. But I did find a front elevation drawing in Peter Coard's "Vanishing Bath Part Three" (reproduced right) with a description that revealed that the baths were originally in the basement of this building.  This suggests that the baths (probably disused by 1942) were the basement, the shop occupied the ground floor and the dwelling was above the shop.
