Canal Banks.

Canal Banks is on Map 2d, but is not shown on the map, nor listed in the street directory printed 1940. It is listed in the street directories of 1937 and 1947, so this could be a simple omission. The name "Lock Cottage" is distinctive, and allowed the buildings named Canal Cottages, Widcombe in the City Engineer's report to be identified as Canal Banks, Darlington Wharf in the street directories.
Lock Cottage (now renamed Top Lock Cottage) still exists, on the canal bank behind Number 1 Lime Grove, in the street named on the map as Lime Grove Gardens. Of the other buildings that formed Canal Banks, there is no trace.
